Challenge and Charity Hikes

We lead walks for groups and businesses who are seeking to take on a hiking challenge, including those looking to raise money for charity.

Whether you are looking to test yourself on exhilarating and exposed mountains, take on iconic endurance hikes such as the Yorkshire Three Peaks, or complete a long-distance trail, we have you covered.

Corporate Charity Hike Leadership

We guide a number of well-known and bespoke challenges across the UK, for groups from 6 to 100 people. I like to see as much money as possible going to the charity you are supporting, and as such we have a discounted rate for full day hikes, starting at £40+VAT per person for a full-day event such as the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

This includes:

  • Professionally qualified and insured guides for the entire group (with a minimum of 1 guide per 10 people)

  • For larger groups, a support vehicle checkpoint at one or two stops on the route

  • Pre-event Zoom/Teams briefings for participants,

  • A customised FAQ for the event and access to information guides for participants (e.g. training routes, what to wear, etc)

  • We are also on hand for any questions and consultancy for setting up the event at your end

 We don’t include:

  • Transport for participants to and from the walk start

  • Post-walk meal, drinks and accommodation (though we can provide recommendations)

Please contact us to speak to us about guiding your event, or check our calendar and book in below.

  • Single-day events only

  • You will be an individual/private group, sole trader, partnership or micro business (fewer than 10 employees)

  • You will have already have a chosen charity you are raising money for

There is no minimum fundraising total, but you and your group will be committed to raising money for your named charity

Mountain Boardroom’s Challenge Hikes

Which challenge should you take on? We are always up for new routes and challenges if you have something new in mind, but if you are looking for some inspiration, here are some of our favourites.

Yorkshire Three Peaks

A legendary route, and for good reason. This is a long and arduos hike, covering 40km and climbing over 1500m througout the day. But where this route really shines is in its gorgeous Yorkshire Dales setting and its three distinctive and iconic mountains: Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The target time for the challenge is 12 hours - I would recommend taking this one on between March and early October, unless you fancy walking in the dark!

Derbyshire Three Peaks

A stone’s throw from Manchester, this challenge walk tackles three of the highest points in the Peak District. With 833m of ascent throughout the day, and covering over 30km, this challenge tests you to the limit on the wild and arduous terrain of Kinder Scout, Higher Shelf Stones and Bleaklow, but offers incredible views and hidden history buried in the desolate moors.

Wharfedale Three Peaks

A quieter alternative to the traditional Yorkshire Three Peaks, this route circles the absolutely stunning and verdant Upper Wharfedale. With almost 30km to cover in the day, and climbing 1205m, you’ll visit the lesser-known, yet still-towering and spectacular summits of Birks Fell, Great Whernside and Buckden Pike. The sometimes-pathless and occasionally arduous terrain is more than made up for with the stunning views of the ‘other’ Yorkshire Three Peaks, and all the way to the North Yorks Moors and Lake District fells on a clear day.

Howgills Circular

Nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, this route through the undulating Howgills offers an incredibly challenging day out. Covering 34km and climbing over 1800m, you’ll take on several seldom-visited summits throughout the day.

Striding Edge

An epic route in the Lake District, this challenge walk takes on the ridges of Striding Edge and Swirral Edge as we ascend Helvellyn, the third-highest mountain in England, standing at 950m above sea level. 14km long, and climbing over 1000m, this Grade 1 scramble will test your nerve as you climb over exposed, rocky sections.
